Hojai is one of the fast developing districts of Assam, India and Don Bosco School is situated at the district headquarters. It is situated 190 km away from the state capital, Guwahati at the foot hills of Karbi Anglong. Hojai is considered as a mini India where different ethnic, cultural and religious communities live in harmony. Ethnically they are more diverse- Bengalis, Assamese, Karbis, Garos, Nepalese, Bodos, Adivasis, Lalungs, Kacharis, Manipuris, Bhiharis, Panjabis, Marwaris etc have made Hojai their home.
Don Bosco School, Hojai, now in its 50th year and ranked among one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Assam, with alumni spread across the world in the field of sports, public service, defence and others. This is no happy accident – it is a result of our robust Catholic pedagogy and our love for what we do.
Over the years, the missionaries have undertaken the challenging responsibility to establish the Catholic mission and the school at Hojai. Withstanding all the challenges and difficulties the educational mission has offered selfless service to the people. The Catholic mission has also undertaken the responsibility of running hostel for the children from faraway places. Down the decades thousands of students are benefitted from the facilities available in the hostel and settled down in their lives. The school besides its educational programmes undertakes the computer literacy programme for the benefit of the children.
